August 15th.

Was perched, decided to take a break at the local store.

Hot dogs, pies, burgers, y'name it. They got it.

It was a normal day as usual. I asked the pretty lady behind the counter for the usual; a chilli dog. She talks to me: "busy day huh?" I reply "pretty much, while you're here serving hot dogs in a store in a small town." She smiles. "You're not gonna get anywhere with that kind of attitude.", she replies. She was right.

My friend Phil, was wearing his usual plaid shirt. He doesn't notice me yet. I wave awkwardly. He's ordering a burger. His long hair waves through the air conditioned store. He's probably stoned out of his mind, he's been on a weed binge lately. Last time I saw him sober was when he witnessed the accident.

Suddenly, the village idiot runs out of nowhere in the store. He's tired, and running for his life. He's breathless, and scared for his life. He yells, "they're alive! Get outta here!" Behind him were them.

Them. Who where they? Were they born that way? Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge. They're people too, why can't the idiot leave them be?

The genius in the red shirt then explained to us his theory. Maybe he could help us, maybe help us survive.

"Man, that's some short temper."
